Demolished Building Facade

Values explain

why buildings matter

and what we do to them.

Rights can protect and help them last.

SOZA: The Untold Story of an Extraordinary Building is a thought-provoking novel that explores what happens when a building facing demolition dares to question its fate. Reimagining the Universal Declaration of Human Rights from a non-human perspective, the book invites readers to reflect on demolition, dignity, and responsibility in the built environment.

Ana Pereira Roders is an architect, researcher, lecturer and writer whose work spans heritage, sustainability, and law. She is a professor at TU Delft and UNESCO Chairholder, and the developer of the emerging concept of Rights of Buildings.

"SOZA gives voice to buildings doomed to premature demolition. HouseEurope! - a pan-European nonprofit and policy lab - helps them by making renovation the norm."
